With minimal intervention in the architectural structure of Der Steckit Projektraum // ES49, Speculation Diorama appears to be a series of visual arrangements negotiating the space between the found and the prepared. It explores the tension between art objects—positioned as metaphorical stand-ins for “real” or “truth”—and the contexts in which they appear. Frames and their absence, light and shadow, reflections, and kinetic objects of various sizes become active agents, flirting with the viewer’s perception.
Speculation Diorama can be seen as a staged hope… that everything that shines, might just be gold.
