Anat Stainberg is a multi disciplinary Artist working as a performer, actress, painter, and a coach. After graduating from acting school in Tel Aviv she worked as an actress in theaters, TV and films. In 2004 she moved to Amsterdam to continue her studies and graduated with a Diploma in Performance art from DasArts Amsterdam. She created solo art-works and collaborations for Theaters, museums and gallery venues, and taught in different visual art universities as well as in dance contexts in Europe. Since 2007 she lives and works in Vienna.

Her works often explores the fine line between reality and fiction. She is busy with an on going research addressing the different levels of performativity necessary on and of stage.

Anat was Artist in Residence in the project ‘free spaces AIR’, an initiative of the ‘Zuidas Virtual Museum’, Amsterdam 2007. She is distinguished with several scholarships and prizes (among others a full stipend from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Netherlands 2004 – 06 and a prize from the cultural department of Gemeente Amsterdam 2007 for the ‘Zuidas Virtual Museum’ 2007). She received funding (among others from the Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria BMUKK and the culture department of the city of Vienna MA7) and her work is a part of the collection of the Austrian theater museum in Vienna.

Her work has been presented internationally in galleries, museums and theatres. Amongst others; brut Wien, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich Vienna, school Vienna, the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, De Apple Gallery Amsterdam, the Frascati Theatre Amsterdam, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, the Austrian Theatre Museum Vienna, Im Ersten Gallery Vienna, and Wien Modern Vienna.

She collaborated with artists like Billy Roisz, FUCKHEAD, Hans Bryssinck, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Jan Maertens, Martin Siewert, Peter Brandlmayr, Yasmina Haddad, Jan Machacek, Amina Handke, Norberto Llopis Segara, Toxic Dreams / Yosi Wanunu, Deborah Hazler and more.
